Recommended Settings
Music and general audio
Use stereo when the original recording has left and right channel detail. For MP3, AAC, OGG, Opus, AC3, or WMA, start around 192 kbps for a balanced result and increase the bitrate when quality matters more than file size.
Voice, meetings, and narration
Use mono for speech to reduce file size while keeping voices clear. AMR is intended specifically for narrowband voice, while Opus or MP3 usually works better for modern podcasts and voice recordings.
Editing and production
Choose WAV or AIFF when you want uncompressed output for editing, sampling, cleanup, mastering, or transcription tools. Use Original sample rate when preserving the source timing is important.
Video audio extraction
For MP4, WebM, MOV, M4V, or 3GP sources, the tool extracts the audio track that your browser can decode. MP3 is the safest export for sharing, while WAV and AIFF are better when the extracted track needs editing.
Browser Support and Privacy
Audio conversion runs locally in the browser. The source files are selected from your device, decoded in memory, and encoded into the chosen output format without uploading the audio to a server. Browser support still matters: some browsers decode more input formats than others, and some output formats rely on MediaRecorder or local encoder files.
- Use a modern Chromium-based browser or Firefox for the widest audio decoding and recording support.
- Large files take more memory because conversion happens locally; keep files under 250 MB each for reliable results.
- AC3 and WMA load the local FFmpeg encoder only when those outputs are selected.
- AMR creates mono narrowband speech output and is not intended for full-quality music conversion.

Does converting audio reduce quality?
Converting to compressed formats such as MP3, AAC, OGG, Opus, AC3, WMA, or AMR can reduce quality, especially at low bitrates. WAV and AIFF are uncompressed outputs, but they are much larger.
Can I convert video files to audio?
Yes. The tool accepts WebM, MP4, MOV, M4V, 3GP, and 3G2 when the browser can decode the audio track. It then exports the audio as your selected format.
Why does one format fail in my browser?
Browser decoding and recording support varies. If a file cannot be decoded, try another modern browser. If AAC, OGG, or Opus recording is unavailable, the browser does not expose the required recorder support.
Are converted files saved automatically?
No. Finished files are made available in the results list. Download each file manually or use the ZIP button to save all converted files together.
